For my
challenge, I decided to take this T-shirt Ruffle Scarf tutorial by Vermillion Rules and give it a whirl. Here’s her original:
I did just what she suggested and grabbed one of Mr. CFO’s old T’s out of the Goodwill bag (we ALWAYS have a bag—or 3—being filled for Goodwill).
It has definitely seen better days, there are some questionable spots on it—in short, GREAT for a trial run at her technique. I dialed up the tension and made my stitches as big as can be and started sewing. At first it went well, then I ran out of bobbin. After replacing the bobbin, the tension seemed to self-adjust (rotten smart sewing machine) and was sewing NORMAL! Thus, 3/4 of it is pretty ruffly, and the other bit isn’t.
I would like to try this again—when I have the correct thread, needle, etc—all set up. It really went together in no time at all. Best of all—Little Miss Crafty here has a new fashion accessory—can you tell she loves it?
What did you try out?
